Well, I’m now TiVo-ized. I got the TiVo set up this morning, bought a wireless internet USB adapter for it, and now have it fully upgraded to the latest OS version, viewing photos off my main PC, playing MP3 files from my main PC, and set to record gobs of content. Now if I just had a better TV…

I finally got around to scanning photos of my San Juan river trip that people had mailed me. So I updated the web page about that with the pictures. Go check them out!

Toshiba | SD-H400: Digital Media Server – After being convinced by my parents that we should get a TiVo, I was inches away from going down to Best Buy today and buying on of these Toshiba SD-H400′s. It’s a combination TiVo and DVD player, so we wouldn’t be adding any extra components to our entertainment center. However, thanks to the power of the internet, I found a very useful TiVo site – http://www.tivocommunity.com – and read some reviews of this box from other people who’ve bought it. Sadly, the Toshiba lacks the 30 second advance (“commercial skip”) feature and it doesn’t allow you to record from the DVD onto the DVR. Without those features, I think I’ll stick with the basic Series 2 TiVO and save myself $200.

The Brights – I just found out about this website and this use of the word “bright” in the current issue of Wired.

In other news, now that Blogger’s been bought by Google, they’re offering all the Blogger Pro features (that I’ve been paying extra for) for free to all Blogger users!

I got my report card from Keller Graduate School for one class I took. I got an A! That means I have 4.0 GPA. Isn’t that great?

Here’s my favorite deep thought by Jack Handey:

I think a good gift for the president would be a chocolate revolver, and since he’s so busy, you’d probably have to run up real quick and hand it to him.

In other news, we’re having a garage sale today. And the weather is crappy. It’s cold and drizzly, and not too many people are coming by to buy stuff.

Yahoo! News – Record Industry Sues Music File Swappers – I still believe in what David Boies once said: “An industry that goes to war with its customers is not an industry that will ultimately prevail.”

This past weekend, in addition to being the long 3-day Labor Day weekend, was the first anniversary of the wedding of Beth and me. Sadly, I had to work Friday night and Saturday morning, but Saturday afternoon we got away from town and drove to Minturn. We stayed Saturday and Sunday nights at The Minturn Inn. It was pretty nice. Saturday night we went to Ti Amo in Eagle/Vail for dinner, and Sunday we drove up the canyon to Camp Hale, then relaxed at the inn the rest of the day. Sunday night, not finding anyplace we liked in Minturn for dinner, we drove to Avon and found a pizza parlor that was pretty good. Then we drove home Monday. I feel like I gained 5 pounds just from all the dining out, but I went to 24 Hour Fitness today and the scale there didn’t show a 5 pound gain (fortunately).

It was nice to get away for a couple days, but the one thing it really showed is how nice it would be to take several days off and just relax, spending time reading and working on my music. We’ll try to do something like that later this month.

Yahoo! News – Medical Marijuana Sold in the Netherlands: “Recent studies show a small increase in the number of people in the Netherlands who say they have tried marijuana, but overall use levels remain well below those in the United States despite the drug’s widespread availability here [in the Netherlands].” – I wonder why it is that Americans are more likely to use marijuana. Post your theory!
